Education

  • PhD, Computational Neuroscience | Imperial College London, London
Project: Neural correlates of movement planning under uncertainty
    Supervisor: Dr. Juan Alvaro Gallego
    • Analyzed neural population recordings, making use of unsupervised-, supervised-, and reinforcement learning, to understand how the coordinated activity of populations of neurons in the brain gives rise to movement under uncertainty.
    • Built lightweight Python and Julia libraries for trial-based neural data analysis, and one for prototyping modular RNNs.

  • MSc, Computational Neuroscience | Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience, Berlin
Master project: Unsupervised discovery of discrete neural states in rats playing hide and seek
Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Michael Brecht, Dr. Juan Ignacio Sanguinetti-Scheck
    • Organized experimental data into a publicly available SQL database.
    • Used state-space models (switching linear dynamical systems and hidden Markov models) to study neural activity in prefrontal cortex of rats playing hide-and-seek.
    • Showed that the models segment brain activity into meaningful states related to the rats' behavior in an unsupervised way, and validated my results using statistical analysis and supervised decoding of behavior from neural activity.
    • Demonstrated a novel bottom-up method for discovering what behaviors elicit changes in neural activity.

  • BSc, Molecular Bionics Engineering | PPCU, Faculty of Information Technology and Bionics, Budapest
Multidisciplinary engineering program spanning life sciences, mathematics, and programming.
